Benefits at a Glance

Health/Vision/Dental Coverage

  • Choose between the Empire Plan and a variety of HMOs for Health Insurance/Prescription coverage. Receive partial reimbursement for dental and vision services. Domestic partners and dependants are covered by benefits packages.

Retirement Options

  • Choose amongst New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Employees Retirement System, ING, MetLife, TIAA-CREF, or VALIC

Leave

  • First year Assistant Directors, Community Directors and Resident Directors will accrue 1.25 vacation and sick days each month. Additionally, they are eligible for up to 12 holidays per year.

Apartment

  • Community Directors and Resident Directors receive a furnished 1-2 bedroom apartment with free laundry facilities, free cable, free local and long-distance phone, and free high-speed internet. Fish in maximum 20-gallon tanks are permitted

Meal Plan

  • Community Directors and Resident Directors are provided a meal plan valued at approximately $1,500 per semester.

Parking

  • Community Directors and Resident Directors are allocated one parking space. There is a cost to all employees to obtain a campus parking permit.

Domestic Partners

  • Community Directors and Resident Directors may live with one adult and any dependents.

Tuition Assistance

  • We ask that new staff members do not take classes during their first semester so that they can become acclimated to the University and their position. Our union, United University Professions, offers a space available program which covers tuition for one classroom-based course (i.e. not independent study) during each semester taken at a SUNY operated campus. Partial assistance for an additional course can be secured through the Tuition Waiver program (based on funding)

Professional Development

  • Assistant Directors are provided $800, Community Directors are provided $650 and Resident Directors are provided $600 per year for professional development.
