Communities/Colleges

At Binghamton, our residential communities help students connect with friends and have fun while learning.  Whether it's waking up to co-rec football on Saturday or joining friends for a study group in the lounge, you'll make connections in any of our halls!  Students choose from six residential communities, each with its own personality:

College-in-the-Woods

College-in-the-Woods, referred to as CIW, is the largest residential community on campus.  Each of the 5 buildings house 240-340 residents and offer both suite style and traditional corridor style living. Special CIW features include: classrooms in the comunity and tutorial services through the Center of Academic Excellence.  Phone: 607-777-2637.

Dickinson Community

Dickinson Community is the orignial residential community on campus. Each of the 6 buildings house 150-180 residents in corridor-style living.  Special Dickinson features include: CoRE (Computer, Robotics and Engineering) housing, a darkroom, and the Professor Libby Tucker Academic Center. Hinman College

Hinman College, the founders of co-rec football, is made up of 5 suite-style buildings housing an average of 200 residents per building.  Special Hinman features include: classrooms in the community, a darkroom, and a community weight room. Phone: 607-777-4716.

Mountainview College

Mountainview College houses a little over 1,000 students in 4 suite-style halls. Special Mountainview features include: classrooms in the community, a study lounge on each floor, and air-conditioning. Phone: 607-777-7660.

Newing College

Newing College will be opening a new building in fall 2009!  Each corridor-style building houses approximately 200 residents.  Special Newing features include: a community fitness room, a rehearsal space for Newing instrumentalists, a bonfire pit and Lake Lieberman (complete with it's own "monster")! Apartment Communities

Upperclass and non-traditionally-aged freshman students have the option of signing up for one of our apartment-style communities, Hillside and Susquehanna.  Hillside offers 4, 6, and 8-person apartments with single and double rooms.  Susquehanna, a 24-hour quiet community, offers 3 and 4-person apartments with double and single rooms, as well as family housing.
