Apartment Community Staff

Jen HapgoodJen Hapgood, Assistant Director, Apartment Communities and Conferences

Welcome to the apartments! I supervise the overall functioning of the apartment communities. I have been in this role since June, 2008 and I love it. I joined the Binghamton community in 2005 as the Assistant Director of Newing College. Before coming to New York, I lived and worked in Keene, NH for 6 years and Orono, ME before that. I am a New England girl through and through. When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my dogs, reading, and going to the beach.

libbyLibby Tucker, Faculty Master, Apartment Communities

I have enjoyed being the Apartment Communities' Faculty Master  for the past three years. Previously, I served as Faculty Master of Dickinson Community. I work with students to facilitate their transition to graduate school and careers; three years ago I created a Senior Year Experience course. I also have a special interest in helping transfer students adjust to Binghamton University through the Transfer Mentor program. As a professor of English, I teach folklore courses for graduate and undergraduate students. My publications include Campus Legends: A Handbook, Haunted Halls: Ghostlore of American College Campuses, and Children's Folklore: A Handbook. I am always glad to talk with students and hope you'll come to my office in Hillside (inside the Commons) or my office in Susquehanna (Choconot 101) to visit!

This is my second year at BU and I am happy to be joining the apartment staff after spending the last year as the resident director of Endicott Hall in Newing.  Before coming to BU, I worked in Residential Life at American International College and University of Rhode Island for two years respectively.  I am very excited to get to know all the apartment community residents and continue the wonderful traditions we have on the hill.  My door is always open, so please stop by the Commons anytime, for any reason.  Good luck and enjoy the year!

jennyJenny Rickard, Community Director, Susquehanna Community

Jenny Rickard, the Susquehanna Community Director, spent two years as the Resident Director of Hughes Hall in Hinman College before moving up the hill. She enjoys working with residents in the apartment communities because of the unique atmosphere on the hill, which provides independence while retaining an on-campus feel. Jenny's door is always open to residents and students, and she is happy to make herself available as a resource for informal chats and more formal programs on a variety of topics. Please feel free to email her or stop by her office anytime!

ani Ani Lucia, Assistant Community Director, Apartment Communities

Welcome to the apartment communties!  I am very excited to be joining the staff up on the hill this year as the Assistant Community Director for the Apartments.  I did my undergraduate work at Ithaca College in English and Cinema Production, and now I'm a few credits away from earning my Master's in Student Affairs Administration here at Binghamton.  In my free time, I ride horses, play with my parrot Banana, take classes at the Chabad House, and drink way too much coffee.  I'm looking forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to work with you this year!

Pat BrennanPat Brennan, Support Staff, Hillside

I have been a Res Lifer since 1984 (wow!) I began working at the former Graduate Community which has been renamed Susquehanna Community when graduate student housing was no more. I have been at Hillside Community since they opened the doors in 1991. Life on the hill is always an adventure and I have enjoyed working here; and I am sure I will continue to do so until retirement day comes around. My non-working hours are filled with camping, TV watching, reading, movies, card playing and just lots of socializing with family and friends.

karenKaren Gerchman, Support Staff, Susquehanna

I have been employed at the University since 1987.  Prior to working in Residential Life, I’ve held positions in the University Counseling Center and Physical Facilities.  In 2001 I began working in Susquehanna Community.  The gorgeous view of the campus below is one of the reasons I love being here.  I am fortunate to be working with a dedicated and hard working staff who help make Susquehanna Community the great place it is!  When not at work, I enjoy going to the movies, watching college football and basketball, and travelling with my husband and our pug, Rockey, to the Midwest and Philadelphia area to visit our children.
